Banska Stiavnica

Banska Stiavnica boasts some of the most impressive buildings, churches and castles in all of Slovakia, there are lots of museums, an art gallery, and many fine hotels and restaurants.

Yet for all this, the atmosphere in Banska Stiavnica resembles that of a ghost town. If its culture you are after then you should definitely go to the town famous for its mines, schools and historical monuments. Just don't expect any exciting night life while you are there.
