Orava Gallery

Formerly the County House, the two-storeyed Baroque-style building that dominates the town square is today the home of the Orava art gallery.

The exhibitions on display here include folk, modern and classic art, painted by people from the Orava region.

The Orava Gallery was founded in 1965 as a state charity organisation, and organizes a variety of art expositions.

In 1995, after a major reconstruction of the building, the gallery opened to the public their current permanent exhibitions. They are as follows:

Old Art C15th - C19th, Icons, C20th Slovak Art, Traditional Folk Art and the "Maria Medvecka - Painter of Orava" Exhibition (this actually won the Martin Benka prize for the presentation and promotion of Slovak Art, in 1996).
