Martin

Martin, as the birthplace of the Matica Slovenska, is famous for its culture.

It boasts a number of fine museums, such as the Martin Benka museum, the Slovak National museum and of course the Matica Slovenska. It also has a very interesting outdoor museum (or Skanzen).

The main square is undergoing a major face lift at the present time. Although, it currently resembles a building site, it should be worthy of this culture-rich town when it is finished.
