Kezmarok Castle - Expositions

Guilds and Crafts

This is a very interesting exposition which details the lives of many of the different guilds that were set up in Kezmarok from the C15th. Each guild consisted of closed craftsmen associations and were governed by very strict rules, known as "articles".

The guilds had three levels of expertise - Apprentice, Journeyman and Master.

There are exhibits from around 37 independent guilds, such as Locksmiths, Fisherman, Tanners, Spinners, Stonecutters and Masons, and their crafts, as well as their standards, plaques and seals, are on display here.
