Stefanik Monument

Standing majestically above the town of Brezova pod Bradlom, on Bradlo Hill, is a monument to one of Slovakia's heroes, Milan Rastislav Stefanik.

A Slovak, who became a General in the French army, Stefanik played a big part in the formation of Czechoslovakia in 1918.

Tragically, Stefanik died in a plane crash on the way to Bratislava, in 1919, and so this monument was erected in his honor.
