The Skanzen at Pribylina is the youngest open-air
museum in Slovakia. It was opened in 1991, following the construction
of the Liptovsky Mara Dam.
The buildings that are on display would have been flooded
due to the dam, so they were relocated to create the museum.
The Skanzen include a Gothic-Renaissance Manor House, the
Virgin Mary's Early Gothic Church, a village school and many
different types of houses belonging to smiths, cartwrights,
shoemakers, and peasants.
