Low Tatras
The Low Tatras is situated between
the picturesque valleys of the Váh and Hron rivers, a mountain
range that is about 80 km long and one that became a National
Park in 1978. The three main peaks of the mountain range are about
2000 m high, offering stunning
views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Although the High Tatras are the most popular
in Slovakia, the Low
Tatras come a very close second, attracting a large number of
tourists each year. Since joining the EU, many new hotels, camping
sites and ski lifts are being built.
Away from the touristy areas you
can also get back to nature as the forests are filled with wild
animals (including bears). The unspoilt forests are particularly
popular with hikers, who have numerous trails to chose from. And
no trip to the Low Tatras would be complete without a visit to
the Cave of Liberty, the largest show cave in Slovakia.
