Although it has absolutely nothing to do with its namesake, the
Slovakia - Heart of Europe web site, this is nonetheless one of
the most delightful books about Slovakia that I have ever read.
The colorful, simple layout makes it a perfect read for the entire
family and an excellent way to introduce children to the charms
and beauties of Slovakia.
The 56-page, hardback book includes sections covering the history,
culture and legends of Slovakia. There are short descriptions about
some of the great Slovaks that have lived and the role that they
played both in Slovakia and throughout the world. There is also
information about the Slovak Cultural Association, the Matica Slovenska.
The book also focuses on the many places of interest in Slovakia,
as well as a look at Slovakia's Castles and Museums and the High
Tatras mountain range. My personal favorite part of the book though
is the section where some of the legendary Juraj Janosik stories
appear.
If you are looking for an interesting, fun book about Slovakia,
or an informative, educational read suitable for children, then
Slovakia, The Heart of Europe would be an ideal choice.
