ORAVA - Singing folk group

In a valley in the Orava region, under the mighty peak of Choc, lies the picturesque town of Dolny Kubin. In these beautiful surroundings, live a group of singers, with a sense of preserving and keeping traditional folklore alive.

The Singing folk group ORAVA started their activities with a Christmas program back in 2000. This year our group has a reason to celebrate and remind ourselves of all the achievements we gained in the past 5 years.

The group's main goal is to retrieve, preserve and promote folk songs and traditions from the Orava region and other regions in Slovakia (i.e. Terchová, Horehron, Východ, Myjava etc.).

Amongst the repertoire of our group, apart from folk Slovak song and traditions, are also songs and traditions with religion and national themes. As we approach the fifth anniversary of our first Christmas program, we have released an album of traditional Slovak Christmas carols and folk songs. We hope that you will enjoy our offering and that listening to these sounds of Slovakia will make your Christmas a memorable one!
