Slovak Transport Information

Generally speaking the transport infrastructure in Slovakia is quite good.

Driving in Slovakia

Slovak roads are in reasonably good shape, with road signs that follow the European standards. If you are driving in Slovakia it is important to remember that the maximum speed in towns is 35mph, outside of town 55mph, and on motorways 80mph. Please note that drinking any amount of alcohol before driving is forbidden and you must use safety belts at all times. Foreign cars are also expected to have their lights on at all times of the day, and failure to do so may result in a fine.

Trains and Buses

The public transport system in Slovakia is extremely good. Train and bus journeys are excellent value for money, and nearly always run on time. For the latest train and bus timetable information follow the links below:

Flying to Slovakia

There is currently only one international airport in Slovakia, which is Bratislava airport. However, Vienna airport (Austria) and Krakow airport (Poland) are very near to Slovakia, and might be more convenient depending on where you are traveling from and which part of Slovakia you are visiting.
