In the past, on Easter Sunday, all the food that had been prepared the day before was taken to church to be blessed. The food was then eaten at lunchtime. The decorations and ceremony surrounding the meal were very similar to those at the Christmas Dinner. Crumbs from the table were mixed with seeds to help the crops grow and also used for healing purposes. The crumbs were also given to hens with the belief that eating them would help the hens lay more eggs.
