Famous Slovaks: Prince Pribina
Prince Pribina was the first king of the Slovak nation. He lived in Nitra, and ruled over the territory of Central and part of Western Slovakia, from Nitra castle.
Pribina was a pagan king to begin with, but he changed his beliefs, becoming a Christian in 833, and he is responsible for building the first church on Slovak soil. Pribina died in 861. The period of his reign is known as the beginning of the Slovak nation.
