Oravska Pochutka
This is a lovely delicacy from the Orava region, in
Slovakia. It is a potato dish that will tantalize the taste buds,
but is also quite economical to make..

Ingredients:
- Potatoes (1.5kg)
- Sausage mixture (500g)
- Sour cabbage (1kg)
- Onions
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- Salt, Pepper, Cumin
- 5 or 6 Juniper berries

| Begin by peeling the
potatoes, cutting them into cubes and then boiling them in salted
water, until tender. Meanwhile, fry the onions in the oil, and
add 2 tablespoons of sugar to caramelize them. Then add the
pepper, salt, a little cumin, and the 5 or 6 juniper berries.
Add the cabbage and then simmer, until tender.
Spread the cooked potatoes onto a baking tray, add the sausage
mixture, and then finally pour the stewed cabbage mixture
on top. Then bake it in the oven for 20 minutes and serve
warm.
